The book "Readings in Research Methodology in English Education" is written by Bikash Sharma, was published in 2018 firstly and reprinted in 2019 from Sunlight publication at Kirtipur, Kathmandu as Smart Edition. The book is entirely based on four-year B. Ed fourth year English Education, Major English. The book is of Research Methodology in English Education that tries to meet the learner-centered approach as it carries the principle learning by doing. As such, it develops research skills in learners.
The book consists of six chapters; Basics of Research, Basic Components of Research, Methods of Data Collection, Research Design, Data, Analysis and Interpretation and Writing Research. The author has set up each chapter with Smart beginning so as to prepare students mentally regarding the contents that to be taught. In addition, it implies 'Smart Tasks' in numbers bearing in mind that it assists in making students alert about the subject matter they learn later.
Apart from that, he has included 'Smart Points' at the end of every chapter, which help to revive what they have learnt. The very interesting matter of this book is the fact that it has stuck the 'Smart Summary of the Chapter' which also aids to revise the lesson briefly. The way 'Glossary' is given in the book seems fine; this is also one of the strengths of the book. Another spellbinding advantage of this book is that the book offers project work in each chapter at the end, which means learners have to go to the field for completing their project work; that develops their confidence, research skills, and communication exposure simultaneously.
Almost everything seems good and fine in the book; design-wise, color-wise and shape-wise except printing and editing. Price of the book is also reasonable; learners can purchase it readily. Nevertheless, printing does not seem good in spite of being a better book for novice researchers; the color quality that is used for words is not good as it gets struck out if you touch it mistakenly. Another lapse that I found in the book is editing. Editing is not done severely. I found misspelling in several places across the book. Also, plenty of words are misplaced.
Regardless of that, the book is worthwhile. It is a package of activities regarding Research in English Education. As aforementioned, this book was published targeting learners. The contents that are incorporated in the book are learner-oriented. After completing the book, you can be a good researcher in English Education.
